As part of a university subject lead by Dr. Amit Srivastava, Daniel travelled to India in 2011 to collaborate with local Indian students at the Sushant School of Art and Architecture. Students were required to design a proposal for a brownfield site just oustide of New Delhi. This project focused on high-density living and community between various people-groups.

Accommodating a Range of Users

One of the aims of this scheme was to create a community where those of a high social status can live in unison with those in the low-socio economic demographic. By creating two distinct building forms with related principles and modes of arrangement, people of varying status and income can own their own dwelling while co-owning the spaces between.

After exploring a similar typology in ‘Habitat 67’, this design focuses on maintaining a sense of community across multiple horizontal planes.
