Summary
 

I completed a ‘Master of Architecture’ and a 'Bachelor of Design Studies' degree at the University of Adelaide. I am now seeking work experience or paid employment as an architectural graduate.

 

I have a keen interest in design focused on environmental responsibility and community-building. My desire is to see Australians develop participatory communities of which architecture plays a formative role.

Catalyst Architects, Adelaide

December 2014 - April 2015   Graduate Architect (sub-contracted) 

  • Prepared high quality colour rendered presentation drawings to assist with communicating a proposed masterplan redevelopment to members of a church congregation. Drawings also used to assist a quantity surveyor in developing a cost plan and for purposes of lodging the redevelopment proposal with the City of Unley Council for Provisional Development Plan (Planning) Consent.

  • Lead the production of presentation drawings with support and direction offered by Jason Pruszinski of Catalyst Architects as required.

  • Participated in developing the design for a new signature retail store in South Australia’s premier shopping precinct. Prepared high quality colour rendered presentation drawings to communicate the proposed new building to prospective tenants and also for lodging a planning application with the City of Adelaide Council.

  • Lead the production of presentation drawings and worked closely with Jason Pruszinski in the design process.

  • Developed carpet plan drawings for the Mitcham City Council office refurbishment.

Camp Qwanoes, Vancouver Island, Canada

June - September 2014   Assistant Head Counselor (sic) 

  • Upon being in Australia for two months, I was asked by Camp Qwanoes if I could return for another summer as an Assistant Head Counselor.

  • Lead and supported the counsellors (approx. 24 males) and children (approx 240 boys) each week, over nine weeks of consecutive camps and one week of staff training.

  • Showed initiative, patience, relational skills and gentle efficiency in many behind-the-scenes tasks involving camper and staff privacy and confidentiality.

  • Maintained an ability to complete all required tasks in an intense and often stressful environment.

Intermethod, Adelaide

May 2014   Discussion Facilitator / Photographer

  • Selected as a Facilitator of discussion for a ‘Community Consultation Workshop’ in Roxby Downs, while also photographing for Intermethod.

  • Exercised oral communication and people skills in collaborative idea-generation with various and often conflicting views regarding local planning.

  • Intermethod efforts well-received by the community and positive engagement articles published in local papers “The Sun” and “The Monitor”.

ZGF Cotter Architects Inc., Vancouver, Canada

November 2013 - March 2014   Architectural Intern 

  • Daniel took a temporary position to gain experience as 'Cotter Architects' merged into 'ZGF Cotter Architects Inc.'

  • Analysed and converted sketch drawings to AutoCAD and digital 3D models.

  • Explored design options and collaborated on a team of five for a scheme involving a performing arts theatre and a residential component.

  • Assisted in document preparation and presentation for a performing arts project going to the Advisory Design Panel.

  • Worked alongside the Principal Architect in preparing sets of documents for a feasibility study involving six different sites.

  • Communicated frequently with client as development data and design was altered to maximise site potential.

  • Produced SketchUp models of six schemes for the Principal Architect to show at client and city meetings.

World Vision's 'Vision Generation'

  • A member of SA’s ‘Vision Generation’ group and involved in many activities, including coordinating the 40 Hour famine for my group in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
  • Attended World Vision’s ‘Trek Against Trafficking’ (November 2008), flying to Melbourne to campaign, educate, and raise awareness with other ‘Vgen’ groups, all the way to Parliament House in Canberra.

Short-Term Mission Trip, Vanuatu

  • Designed and oversaw the construction of school desks for the entire new classroom.
